Who We Are

Church on the Rock is a dynamic and growing church located in New Albany, Indiana. Dr. Michael and Diana Jacobs founded Church on the Rock at the instruction of the Lord in the fall of 1984. Starting in the living room of a home with twelve families, the church quickly outgrew their accommodations. They began leasing a facility on State Street in New Albany, Indiana in July of 1985 with 55 people. By June of 1987 the church again found themselves in need of more room and moved to Slate Run Road as the congregation grew to 175. The church then purchased land and built a new facility in February of 1993, adding an education wing to that existing structure in 1998. Church on the Rock has continued to grow and in 2008 expanded their sanctuary to seat 600 plus.

Currently Church on the Rock is involved in a number of ministries on a national and international level. Churches in Nashville, Tennessee and Georgetown, Texas have been established out of Church on the Rock. Pastors in Sparksville, Kentucky and Hermitage, Tennessee along with Missionaries in several countries call the Jacobs' their pastors. Our outreach programs actively minister to those in local jails while our congregation members offer the light of the Gospel to those in their local communities. The ministry of helps program invites church members to participate in one of 20 departments and many have taken advantage of this opportunity with a church wide participation of approximately 90%.

Our future plans include continuing to build on our thirty plus years of ministry in the Louisville metropolitan area. As a strong word-oriented church we are moving forward in the training of each person in every age group to reach his fullest potential in Christ Jesus our Lord. Our continued support of missions and the establishment of churches in new regions of the United States and abroad are an extension of the mandate "go into all the world and preach the gospel...."
